Somatic creates and designs content for Commercial, Television, Film and Digital Platforms
Somatic is the creative studio of directors James Thayer and Steve Waite. Never ones to be boxed in, the duo has their hands in a wide array of creative content. From title sequences for TV shows, to the production of commercials and branded content, music videos, and their own originals, Steve and James are creative bootstrappers who love a challenge and have a keen understanding of the industry as a whole.
James Thayer // Executive Creative Director
After graduating from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, James moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue a career in post production. Starting as an assistant editor in reality television he eventually made his way to the world of commercial and branded content. James honed his skills as an editor and motion graphics designer while creating content for entertainment brands such as 20th Century Fox, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and Disney. In 2013 he co-founded Somatic where he has worked with everything from cowboys to kittens while creating content for various national and international brands.
Steve Waite // Executive Producer
With a degree from Syracuse’s S.I. Newhouse School of Communications, Steve ditched the cold for sunny Los Angeles in 2006. After a couple years in the trenches, he landed at a prominent commercial and feature film production company and quickly worked his way up to Head of Production, overseeing major commercial campaigns while diversifying his knowledge base in the entertainment world. Seeing an opportunity to deviate from the standard production company model, Steve co-founded Somatic in 2013 with the idea that a company could (and should) be able to handle a job from inception to completion all under one roof. Since then he has gone on to create and produce content for a number of major brands, networks and entertainment studios.
Jeremy Albucher // Producer
A graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Jeremy began his career at Red Bull where eventually came to lead their in-house video marketing department – creating content for broadcast commercials, social media, and in-stadium brand displays. At Red Bull he created and directed the Promax winning “This Is Your Home” and “Pure Heart” spots for the New York Red Bulls – Best Direction Gold and Silver. After 3 years at Red Bull, Jeremy founded Ion Motion where he created content for the Dallas Cowboys, the Brooklyn Nets, and CONCACAF, among others. As a freelancer in Los Angeles, he has worked for the likes of TruTV, SeeSo, AMVBBDO, College Humor, and Intel.
